Patients with hypertension (HTN) are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease, which can be reduced with blood pressure (BP) control. Anxiety can contribute to high BP and low heart rate variability (HRV). Although relationships between social support, self-rated health-status (SRHS), anxiety and measures of HRV and BP have been suggested, they have not been clearly established. This cross-sectional correlational study aimed to 1) examine relationships between social support, SRHS, and anxiety; and 2) examine if HRV mediated relationships between anxiety symptoms and BP. Patients with primary HTN were recruited from a cardiovascular outpatient clinic using convenience sampling (N = 300). Data included scale scores for SRHS, social support, and anxiety (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). A handheld limb-lead electrocardiogram monitor measured HRV, using the ratio of low-frequency bands to high-frequency bands; an automatic sphygmomanometer measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP, respectively). Path analysis of structural equation models examined relationships between variables; the bootstrap method examined the mediating effects of HRV. Analysis showed scores for SRHS and social support had a direct effect on anxiety scores. Scores for anxiety directly affected HRV and BP. HRV also had a direct effect on BP. Bootstrapping indicated HRV mediated the relationship between anxiety symptoms and BP. The final model indicated SRHS, social support, and anxiety symptoms together explained 80% of SBP and 33% of DBP. These findings suggest HRV could be used to measure the effectiveness of strategies aimed at reducing anxiety and improving control of BP.

BACKGROUND: Alzheimer's disease is characterized by large-scale structural changes in a specific pattern. Recent studies developed morphological similarity networks constructed by brain regions similar in structural features to represent brain structural organization. However, few studies have used local morphological properties to explore inter-regional structural similarity in Alzheimer's disease. METHODS: Here, we sourced T1-weighted MRI images of 342 cognitively normal participants and 276 individuals with Alzheimer's disease from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database. The relationships of grey matter intensity between adjacent voxels were defined and converted to the structural pattern indices. We conducted the information-based similarity method to evaluate the structural similarity of structural pattern organization between brain regions. Besides, we examined the structural randomness on brain regions. Finally, the relationship between the structural randomness and cognitive performance of individuals with Alzheimer's disease was assessed by stepwise regression. RESULTS: Compared to cognitively normal participants, individuals with Alzheimer's disease showed significant structural pattern changes in the bilateral posterior cingulate gyrus, hippocampus, and olfactory cortex. Additionally, individuals with Alzheimer's disease showed that the bilateral insula had decreased inter-regional structural similarity with frontal regions, while the bilateral hippocampus had increased inter-regional structural similarity with temporal and subcortical regions. For the structural randomness, we found significant decreases in the temporal and subcortical areas and significant increases in the occipital and frontal regions. The regression analysis showed that the structural randomness of five brain regions was correlated with the Mini-Mental State Examination scores of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggested that individuals with Alzheimer's disease alter micro-structural patterns and morphological similarity with the insula and hippocampus. Structural randomness of individuals with Alzheimer's disease changed in temporal, frontal, and occipital brain regions. Morphological similarity and randomness provide valuable insight into brain structural organization in Alzheimer's disease.

PURPOSE: Sarcopenia was found to be a poor prognostic factor in kidney transplant recipients, but the role of sarcopenia obesity remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the effect of sarcopenic obesity on kidney transplantation. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on kidney transplant recipients between 2015 and 2019. Pretransplant CT scans were utilized to assess sarcopenia and visceral obesity. Based on the presence or absence of sarcopenia and visceral obesity, the recipients were classified into four distinct groups. RESULTS: The recipients were categorized into four groups based on their characteristics: the nonsarcopenic nonobesity group (n = 493, 49.85%), the nonsarcopenic obesity group (n = 248, 25.08%), the sarcopenic nonobesity group (n = 188, 19.01%), and the sarcopenic obesity group (n = 60, 6.07%). Multivariate analysis, identified sarcopenic obesity was as an independent risk factor for mortality following kidney transplantation (adjusted hazard ratio, 5.861; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.627-21.108; P = 0.007). Additionally, sarcopenic obesity was associated with an increased risk of delayed graft function (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 3.342; 95% CI 1.421-7.745; P = 0.005), perioperative incision infection (aOR, 9.654; 95% CI 1.572-60.648; P = 0.011), perioperative pulmonary infection (aOR, 2.557; 95% CI 1.208-5.215; P = 0.011), and readmission within 3 months (aOR, 2.100; 95% CI 1.051-4.017; P = 0.029). While sarcopenic obesity was found to be associated with impaired graft renal function, it did not show a significant correlation with death-censored graft survival or quality of life. CONCLUSION: The presence of sarcopenic obesity prior to kidney transplantation represents an independent risk factor for mortality, and it is also linked to a range of unfavorable outcomes.

Cyetpyrafen is a recently developed acaricide. The citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor), has developed significant resistance to cyetpyrafen. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the cyetpyrafen resistance in P. citri remains unclear. Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) play a critical role in arthropod pesticide resistance. This study showed that GSTs were potentially related to the resistance of P. citri to cyetpyrafen through synergistic experiments and enzyme activity analysis. An omega-family GST gene, PcGSTO1, was significantly up-regulated in the egg, nymph, and adult stages of the cyetpyrafen-resistant strain. Additionally, silencing of PcGSTO1 significantly increased the mortality of P. citri to cyetpyrafen and recombinant PcGSTO1 demonstrated the ability to metabolize cyetpyrafen. Our results indicated that the overexpression of PcGSTO1 is associated with cyetpyrafen resistance in P. citri, and they also provided valuable information for managing resistance in P. citri.

RESUMO

Realizing n- and p-type transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)-based field-effect transistors for nanoscale complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) applications remains challenging owing to undesirable contact resistance. Quantumtransport calculations were performed by replacing single-sided Se atoms of TMD near the interface with As or Br atoms to further improve the contact resistance. Here, partial selenium replacement produced a novel interface with a segment of metamaterial MoSeX (Pt/MoSeX/MoSe2; X = As, Br). Such stable metamaterials exhibit semi-metallicity, and the contact resistance can be thus lowered. Our findings provide insights into the potential of MoSe2-based nano-CMOS logic devices.

INTRODUCTION: Frailty assessments may help to identify patients at highest risk for treatment-related toxicity, early treatment discontinuation due to toxicity, and death in Multiple Myeloma. We aimed to compare the patient-reported frailty phenotype (PRFP) and a modified version of the International Myeloma Working Group frailty index (IMWG FI) in terms of their strengths, limitations, and classification of frailty in a cohort of patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data were pooled from six RRMM Phase 3 randomized clinical trials submitted to the Food and Drug Administration for regulatory review between 2010 and 2021. Patients were classified as fit, intermediate fit/pre-frail, or frail using both PRFP and the IMWG FI proxy. Agreement between the two approaches in classification of patient frailty was assessed using weighted Cohen's kappa. A contingency table and Venn diagram were generated to analyze overlap in categorization of patient frailty across the different severity groups. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize and compare the clinical and demographic characteristics of patients categorized as frail by PRFP vs. IMWG FI proxy. RESULTS: Of the 2,750 patients included in this analysis, IMWG FI proxy classified 16.4% (452) patients as frail, 28.1% (772) as intermediate fit/pre-frail, and 55.5% (1,526) as fit. Meanwhile, PRFP classified 21.7% (597) of patients as frail, 24.5% (675) as intermediate fit/pre-frail, and 53.8% (1478) as fit. Fair agreement was observed between PRFP and IMWG FI proxy (weighted Cohen's Kappa = 0.34 [0.31-0.37]). On average, patients who were categorized as frail by IMWG FI proxy were older and had higher Charlson Comorbidity Index scores than patients classified as frail by PRFP. In contrast, patients who were classified as frail by PRFP had worse EORTC QLQ-C30 Physical Functioning subscale summary scores as compared to patients in the IMWG FI proxy frail group (median score of 40 vs. 47 out of 100). DISCUSSION: Our analysis found fair concordance between IMWG FI proxy and PRFP. This demonstrates that while both frailty models measure the same underlying construct, the variables that constitute each approach may result in differing frailty categorizations for the same patient. Further prospective studies are needed to establish and compare the predictive and prognostic abilities of the different frailty indices in MM.

The development of catalysts with abundant active interfaces for superior low-temperature catalytic CO oxidation is critical to meet increasingly rigorous emission requirements, yet still challenging. Herein, this work reports a PtCo/CoOx /Al2 O3 catalyst with PtCo clusters and enriched Pt─O─Co interfaces induced by hydrogen spillover from the Pt sites and self-oxidation process in air, exhibiting excellent performance for CO oxidation at low temperatures and humid conditions. The combination of structural characterizations and in situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveals that the PtCo cluster effectively prevents CO saturation/poisoning on the Pt surface. Additionally, the presence of Pt─O─Co interfaces in the PtCo/CoOx /Al2 O3 catalyst provides a significant number of active sites for oxygen activation and ─OH formation. This facilitates efficient generation of CO2 at ambient temperature by coupling with nearby adsorbed CO molecules, resulting in superior low-temperature activity and long-term stability for CO oxidation under humid conditions. This work provides a facile route toward rationalizing the design of catalysts with more active interfaces for superior low-temperature CO oxidation under humid conditions for practical applications.

Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) possesses a band gap of approximately 4.9 eV, aligning its detection wavelength within the solar-blind region, making it an ideal semiconductor material for solar-blind photodetectors. This study aims to enhance the performance of Ga2O3ultraviolet (UV) detectors by pre-depositing a Ga2O3seed layer on ac-plane sapphire substrate. The x-ray diffraction and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses validated that the deposited films, following high-temperature annealing, comprisedß-Ga2O3. Comparing samples with and without a 20 nm seed layer, it was found that the former exhibited fewer oxygen defects and substantially improved crystal quality. The incorporation of the seed layer led to the realization of detectors with remarkably low dark current (≤15.3 fA). Moreover, the photo-to-dark current ratio was enhanced by 30% (surpassing 1.3 × 104) and the response/recovery time reduced to 0.9 s/0.01 s, indicating faster performance. Furthermore, these detectors demonstrated higher responsivity (4.8 mA W-1), improved detectivity (2.49 × 1016Jones), and excellent solar-blind characteristics. This study serves as a foundational stepping toward achieving high-qualityß-Ga2O3thin film and UV detector arrays.

CoS2 nanoparticles (NPs) have shown promise as potential peroxidase (POD)-like catalysts, but the catalytic molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. Moreover, no study has adequately explored the influence of O-doping induced by the inevitable oxidation of CoS2 on their POD-like activity. Here, O-doped CoS2 NPs were prepared by a one-step method, and their intrinsic POD-like catalytic mechanism was investigated with a combined experimental and theoretical approach. The hydroxyl radical (˙OH) and the superoxide radical (O2˙-) have been found to play significant roles in the POD-like activity, and ˙OH is the major radical. The O-doping could reduce the transition-state energy barrier of H2O2 dissociation, thus promoting the decomposition of H2O2 to ˙OH and inducing the formation of O2˙-. Therefore, O-doping is an effective method for enhancing the catalytic activity of CoS2 NPs. Furthermore, due to the excellent oxidation property of ˙OH and O2˙-, this nanozyme exhibited efficient catalytic activity towards the degradation of organic dyes with H2O2. This manuscript provides a new inspiration for designing more promising anion-defective transition-metal sulfide nanozymes for different applications.

With a focus on T-spherical fuzzy (T-SF) sets, the aim of this paper is to create a split-new appraisal mechanism and an innovative decision analytic method for use with multiple-criteria assessment and selection in uncertain situations. The T-SF frame is the latest recent advancement in fuzzy settings and uses four facets (consisting of membership grades of positivity, neutrality, negativity, and refusal) to elucidate complex uncertainties, thereby evidently reducing information loss, in anticipation of fully manifesting indistinct and equivocal information. This paper adds to the body of knowledge regarding multiple criteria choice modeling by raising T-SF correlation-oriented measurements connected to the fixed and displaced ideal/anti-ideal benchmarks and by creating an approachable appraisal mechanism for advancing a T-SF decision analytic methodology. Consider, in particular, the performance ratings of available options in terms of judging criteria under the T-SF type of uncertainties. This research gives correlation-oriented measurements focusing on two varieties of maximum and square root functions in T-SF situations, which serve as a solid foundation for an efficacious appraisal mechanism from two views of anchored judgments corresponding to the fixed and displaced benchmarks. The T-SF Minkowski distance index is generated to integrate the outranking and outranked identifiers relying on correlation-oriented measurements for figuring out the local outranking and outranked indices. The T-SF decision analytic procedures are constructed using a new appraisal significance index that is founded on certain valuable insights of correlation-oriented maximizing and minimizing indices as well as global outranking and outranked indices. Additionally, a concrete location selection dilemma is dealt with in this research to showcase the applicability and efficiency of the suggested T-SF decision analytic methodology. Sensitivity analyses and comparative studies are carried out to investigate substantial modifications in pertinent parameters and to confirm the robustness of the predominance relationships among the available options. The suggested approaches are adaptable, flexible, and reliable, according to the application outcomes and comparison findings. This research provides four scientific contributions: (1) the utilization of T-SF correlation coefficients as the basis for prioritization analysis involving multiple criteria assessments, (2) the evolution of the T-SF Minkowski distance index to model outranking decision-making processes, (3) the creation of a reliable appraisal mechanism based on T-SF correlation-oriented measurements for intelligent decision support, and (4) the advancement of computational tools and procedures (e.g., correlation-oriented maximizing and minimizing indices, global outranking and outranked indices, and appraisal significance indices) to perform the decision analytic procedure in T-SF settings. In terms of managerial implications, the solution findings support the employment of the fixed ideal/anti-ideal benchmarking mechanism, as its measurements and indices are easy to operate and suitably sensitive. Next, in practical implementations of the T-SF decision analytic procedure, it is advised to utilize the T-SF Manhattan distance index for calculating convenience. Finally, the T-SF decision analytic techniques offer fundamental ideas and measurements appropriate for manipulating T-SF information in complex decision situations, thereby increasing the application potential in the area of decision-making with information uncertainty.

Ceramides, structural components of the cell, are known to play a range of roles in glucose metabolism and apoptosis. C16-ceramide, an abundant molecular species of endogenous ceramide, has not had its influence on learning and memory explored. We administered C16-ceramide to mice immediately after weaning and examined the learning and memory behavior of these mice during adulthood. Mice given C16-ceramide early in life showed improved adult learning/short-term memory behavior without affecting their glucose metabolism. Looking for a plausible mechanism for this, we found that calcium influx, CaMKII/CREB, and the Erk-relevant signaling transduction are increased after C16-ceramide stimulation in primary neurons in vitro. Possible downstream epigenetic molecular events, such as H3K4 methylation and Egr-1 abundance, were also found to be upregulated. Utilizing J20 mice, an Alzheimer disease mice model in which mice were injected after weaning with C16-ceramide, we found that these mice also show improved learning and short-term memory behavior when assessed by the Morris water maze test. Taken together, giving C16-ceramide early in life would seem to benefit learning and short-term memory behavior during adulthood.

INTRODUCTION: Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing drug used to treat several types of cancer, including ovarian and breast cancer. Because of its antiproliferative effect on vascular smooth muscle cells, balloons and stents are coated with paclitaxel for use in coronary revascularization and prevention of in-stent restenosis (ISR). However, mechanisms underlying ISR are complicated. Platelet activation is one of the major causes of ISR after percutaneous coronary intervention. Although the antiplatelet activity of paclitaxel was noted in rabbit platelets, the effect of paclitaxel on platelets remains unclear. This study investigated whether paclitaxel exhibits antiplatelet activity in human platelets. METHODS AND RESULTS: Paclitaxel inhibited platelet aggregation induced by collagen but not that induced by thrombin, arachidonic acid, or U46619, suggesting that paclitaxel is more sensitive to the inhibition of collagen-induced platelet activation. Moreover, paclitaxel blocked collagen receptor glycoprotein (GP) VI downstream signaling molecules, including Lyn, Fyn, PLCγ2, PKC, Akt, and MAPKs. However, paclitaxel did not directly bind to GPVI and cause GPVI shedding, as detected by surface plasmon resonance and flow cytometry, respectively, indicating that paclitaxel may interfere with GPVI downstream signaling molecules, such as Lyn and Fyn. Paclitaxel also prevented granule release and GPIIbIIIa activation induced by collagen and low convulxin doses. Moreover, paclitaxel attenuated pulmonary thrombosis and delayed platelet thrombus formation in mesenteric microvessels without significantly affecting hemostasis. CONCLUSION: Paclitaxel exerts antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects. Thus, paclitaxel may provide additional benefits beyond its antiproliferative effect when used in drug-coated balloons and drug-eluting stents for coronary revascularization and prevention of ISR.

Fenton iron mud (IM) is a hazardous solid waste produced by Fenton oxidation technology after treating industrial wastewater. Thus, it is necessary and challenging to develop a recycling technology to back-convert dangerous materials into useful products. Herein, we develop a sustainable approach to prepare highly active metal oxides via a solid-state grinding method. IM, as an amorphous material, can disperse and interact well with these supported metal oxides, boosting toluene degradation significantly. Among these IM-based catalysts, the catalyst 8% MnOx/IM-0.2VC exhibits the best performance (T100 = 290 °C), originating from the oxide-support interaction and optimal balance between low-temperature reducibility and oxygen vacancy concentration. In addition, in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectrometry (DRIFTS) results expound that ring breakage is prone to occur on MnOx, and oxygen vacancies are beneficial to adsorb oxygen and activate oxygen species to boost toluene oxidation following the Mars-van Krevelen mechanism. This work advances a complete industrial hazardous waste recycling route to develop extremely active catalysts.

PURPOSE: The objective of this retrospective study was to determine the feasibility of measuring frailty using patient responses to relevant EORTC QLQ-C30 items as proxy criteria for the Fried Frailty Phenotype, in a cohort of patients with Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma (RRMM). METHODS: Data were pooled from nine Phase III randomized clinical trials submitted to the FDA for regulatory review between 2010 and 2021, for the treatment of RRMM. Baseline EORTC QLQ-C30 responses were used to derive a patient-reported frailty phenotype (PRFP), based on the Fried definition of frailty. PRFP was assessed for internal consistency reliability, structural validity, and known groups validity. RESULTS: This study demonstrated the feasibility of adapting patient responses to relevant EORTC QLQ-C30 items to serve as proxy Fried frailty criteria. Selected items were well correlated with one another and PRFP as a whole demonstrated adequate internal consistency reliability and structural validity. Known groups analysis demonstrated that PRFP could be used to detect distinct comorbidity levels and distinguish between different functional profiles, with frail patients reporting more difficulty in walking about, washing/dressing, and doing usual activities, as compared to their pre-frail and fit counterparts. Among the 4928 patients included in this study, PRFP classified 2729 (55.4%) patients as fit, 1209 (24.5%) as pre-frail, and 990 (20.1%) as frail. CONCLUSION: Constructing a frailty scale from existing PRO items commonly collected in cancer trials may be a patient-centric and practical approach to measuring frailty. Additional psychometric evaluation and research is warranted to further explore the utility of such an approach.

Enhancing oxygen activation through defect engineering is an effective strategy for boosting catalytic oxidation performance. Herein, we demonstrate that quenching is an effective strategy for preparing defect-rich Pt/metal oxide catalysts with superior catalytic oxidation activity. As a proof of concept, quenching of α-Fe2O3 in aqueous Pt(NO3)2 solution yielded a catalyst containing Pt single atoms and clusters over defect-rich α-Fe2O3 (Pt/Fe2O3-Q), which possessed state-of-the-art activity for toluene oxidation. Structural and spectroscopic analyses established that the quenching process created abundant lattice defects and lattice dislocations in the α-Fe2O3 support, and stronger electronic interactions between Pt species and Fe2O3 promote the generation of higher oxidation Pt species to modulate the adsorption/desorption behavior of reactants. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (in situ DRIFTS) characterization studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations determined that molecular oxygen and Fe2O3 lattice oxygen were both activated on the Pt/Fe2O3-Q catalyst. Pt/CoMn2O4, Pt/MnO2, and Pt/LaFeO3 catalysts synthesized by the quenching method also offered superior catalytic activity for toluene oxidation. Results encourage the wider use of quenching for the preparation of highly active oxidation catalysts.

Joubert syndrome (JS) is an autosomal recessive ciliopathy that mainly affects the morphogenesis of the cerebellum and brain stem. To date, mutations in at least 39 genes have been identified in JS; all these gene-encoding proteins are involved in the biogenesis of the primary cilium and centrioles. Recent studies using the mouse model carrying deleted or mutated JS-related genes exhibited cerebellar hypoplasia with a reduction in neurogenesis; however, investigating specific neuronal behaviors during their development in vivo remains challenging. Here, we describe an in vivo cerebellar electroporation technique that can be used to deliver plasmids carrying GFP and/or shRNAs into the major cerebellar cell type, granule neurons, from their progenitor state to their maturation in a spatiotemporal-specific manner. By combining this method with cerebellar immunostaining and EdU incorporation, these approaches enable the investigation of the cell-autonomous effect of JS-related genes in granule neuron progenitors, including the pathogenesis of ectopic neurons and the defects in neuronal differentiation. This approach provides information toward understanding the multifaceted roles of JS-related genes during cerebellar development in vivo.

BACKGROUND: Podocyte infolding glomerulopathy (PIG) is a peculiar and very rare manifestation in renal pathology. Its underlying pathogenesis mechanism and clinical characteristics remain unclear due to sparse reports. OBJECTIVE: To further elucidate the clinical profile of PIG by carefully reporting our four cases and a comprehensive review of cases in the literature. METHODS: This study retrospectively reviewed four cases of PIG from 2010 to 2022 in our centre. Clinical and pathological profiles were reported. PIG cases in the literature were searched in the MEDLINE database and analysed together with our cases. RESULTS: Four cases of PIG identified from our centre and 40 cases from the current literature were reported. The pooled analysis of these 44 cases indicated 79.5% (35/44) were females, 93.2% (41/44) were East Asians, and 63.6% (28/44) were reported in Japan. The average age was 42.0 ± 12.5 years old. The average amount of proteinuria at the time of renal biopsy was 3.06 ± 3.2 g/day. The most reported comorbidities were connective tissue diseases, mainly systemic lupus erythematosus, and 20.5% (9/44) of the cases did not have any contaminant disease. Most of the cases (81.8%, 36/44) had been treated with immunosuppressants, of which a combination of corticosteroids and one other type of immunosuppressant was most commonly reported. In addition, 45.4% (20/44) and 34.1% (15/44) of the cases had achieved complete response and partial response, respectively, after treatment. Whole exosome sequencing indicated mutations in the INF2 gene. CONCLUSIONS: PIG is a rare condition and seen in relatively younger populations, often associated with connective tissue diseases clinically and one or two other glomerulopathies histologically. The outcomes following immunosuppressive treatment are relatively good. Mutations in INF2 might be involved in the development of PIG; however, the implications of these results need to be investigated.

AIMS: Blood pressure control requires medication adherence and lifestyle modifications. Social cognitive theory suggests social support, psychological adaptation, and self-efficacy can reinforce lifestyle modifications. This study investigated if self-efficacy was a mediator between self-rated health status (SRHS), social support, depressive symptoms, anxiety, and self-care among patients with hypertension. METHOD AND RESULTS: This cross-sectional study recruited patients with primary hypertension by convenience sampling (N = 318) from an outpatient cardiology clinic. Data included participant characteristics and self-report scales for social support, SRHS, anxiety, depressive symptoms, Self-efficacy and self-care diet quality and weight management. We used path analysis to test the hypothesized model. The mean age of participants was 63.91 ± 11.80 years. Mean scale scores for social support and depressive symptoms were 54.23 ± 13.26 and 6.14 ± 3.14, respectively; SRHS was 66.91 ± 13.80, self-efficacy was 34.31 ± 11.62, self-care for diet quality and weight management were 36.50 ± 13.19 and 27.38 ± 8.64, respectively. Bootstrapping demonstrated self-efficacy was the mediator between social support and self-care for diet quality and weight management; depressive symptoms mediated the relationship between social support and self-efficacy. In addition, the variable of depressive symptoms was also a mediator between SRHS and self-efficacy. The final model showed SRHS, social support, depressive symptoms, and self-efficacy explained 28% of self-care. CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest developing theory-based interventions for patients with hypertension that provide education and/or psychological support for increasing patients' self-efficacy and reducing depressive symptoms simultaneously to facilitate their long-term self-care behaviours.

In this work, a novel acetamide-based deep eutectic solvent (DES) with Zn2+/ Li+ dual ions is designed and its physicochemical properties are tuned by adjusting the co-solvents (water and acetonitrile). Furthermore, the interplay between electrolyte components is investigated by spectroscopic analyses and molecular dynamics calculations. The addition of acetonitrile facilitates the formation of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with organic/inorganic components on the zinc anode. The presence of SEI coating enhances Coulombic efficiency and cycling stability by inhibiting the parasitic reactions and dendrite formation in the anode. The advantages of using dual cations in DES are demonstrated by assembling Zn ion batteries (ZIB) with the composite of δ-MnO2 and reduced graphene oxide as the cathode. The study of electrode kinetics in hybrid DES electrolytes suggests that Zn2+ and Li+ ions are responsible for battery-like and pseudocapacitive behavior of δ-MnO2 electrodes, respectively. With these merits, ZIB with the cutoff voltage of 2 V delivers a high cell capacity of 208 mAh g-1 at 0.1 Ag-1 and achieves 91% capacity retention after 1500 cycles at 2 Ag-1. More importantly, ZIB with hybrid DES is stably operated at the temperature of -20 °C, which is impossibly achieved by ZIB with conventional aqueous electrolytes.
